About the Company and Factory
Neopharma Japan Co., Ltd. changed its name to KIYAN PHARMA Co., Ltd. on January 1, 2024. Even after the name change, it will continue to contribute to global health as a leading company handling 5-ALA.
5-ALA is manufactured at our factory in Fukuroi City, Shizuoka Prefecture.
5-ALA is produced using photosynthetic bacteria, microorganisms also found in rice paddies and our surroundings. Initially, these microorganisms are grown in small fermentation tanks. As they multiply, they are gradually transferred to larger tanks. Nutrients are added to help the bacteria produce more 5-ALA. The liquid containing 5-ALA is then processed and purified. Finally, it is crystallized into a clean, white powder as the 5-ALA raw material. Production at the Fukuroi Plant complies with relevant laws and regulations.
*According to a 2013 notification by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, ‘5-aminolevulinic acid phosphate (produced by photosynthetic bacteria Rhodobacter sphaeroides)’ is added to the list of substances (raw materials) not considered pharmaceuticals unless they claim medicinal effects.
Unfortunately, “5-ALA 50mg/60 capsules” has been discontinued. There are no plans for restocking. Corporate customers, please consult via inquiry email.

Currently, there are two 5-ALA supplements for pets: “EneALA” for dogs and cats sold exclusively to veterinary hospitals, and “WIZALA” for general sale.
